Volunteering at VBS

LWEC VBS-Vacation Bible School (6/16-6/20)

• ALL volunteers must fill out the VBS volunteer registration form available here. Please submit your form to Children's Pastor Hui-Li Chang via huili@lwechurch.com or return it to the church office.


• All volunteers must complete the online application form


• ALL volunteers must attend one staff training meeting: your choice of Saturday, May 23, 9–11 a.m. OR Thursday, May 28, 7–9 p.m.


• ALL volunteers should plan to help decorate and prepare supplies the weekend before VBS-- your choice of Saturday, June 14, 9 am–noon OR Sunday, June 15, 12:30 pm until we’re done. Refreshments will be served at all meetings.


• All volunteers will be acquainted with the "LWEC Child Protection Policy" at the first VBS staff meeting. All VBS volunteers will be required to complete the LWEC Child Protection Form and return it to the VBS director at least one week before the start of VBS.
  
  The deadline for volunteer registration is April 30, 2014.

Opportunities at Wilderness Escape VBS:

It takes many volunteers to make it all happen and we need YOU. Scan the list below to see how you can help minister to our children, behind the scenes, during VBS, or even before. Remember, for volunteers, we will offer classes for your younger children and your own older K-5th graders siblings can attend VBS for free.

Before VBS:

Decorating –– Calling all those who yearn to be a Hollywood set designer. Come help us make props, design our classrooms and turn LWEC into an Israelite wilderness!

Administrative/Materials Prep –– Already have plans for VBS week? The VBS Wildness Escape Directors work for months in advance to ensure all is ready to go during our VBS week. Spare a few hours in the spring to help us organize and prepare materials.

Parent Newsletter –– Use the software of your choice to prepare a newsletter to be sent to VBS parents in early June.

Prayer Team –– VBS doesn’t happen without sustaining prayers for our children and staff before and during VBS. Let us know if you will commit to praying for a group of participants. The Gospel is presented every day at Wildness Escape School and our objective is to jolt church attendees out of complacency and spur them on toward the closest relationship with Jesus.

During VBS:

Camper Guide (12 Tribes) –– Each group (tribe) will need a leader and an assistant leader to greet children and guide them through all activities during each day.

Recreation Helper –– If you love playing games, come help our kids burn off energy and review their daily Bible verse.

Music/Assembly Helper –– Do you love to hear the sweet sound of children singing praises to God? Then join us in the Training Squadrons and teach our children the VBS songs and hand motions.

Bible Teacher –– Our Bible lessons will show children how to connect with God while also familiarizing them with Bible stories they may not have heard before.

Bible Time Helper ––

Bible Application Helper –– Design a quick and fun way to help the children learn their daily Bible verse. Here’s where you can sing and do all the hand motions you need to remember the verse yourself!

Crafts (Teacher or Helper) –– If you have an artistic talent or just love to help kids develop theirs, come help our children learn Bible time skills and be a butter churner, baker, camel herder, sandal stitcher and more.

Snack Preparer –– More comfortable with a bunch of grapes than a bunch of kids? Join our Snack preparation team to prepare wholesome treats each day and keep everyone smiling.

Registration –– Join us each morning during the camp to help check in the children.

Photographer/Videographer –– Whether it’s candid shots for our Friday afternoon video or portraits for the kids’ crafts, we need hundreds of photos and some videos to create memories for children and their parents. You supply your own equipment. Ready to make your director’s debut? We need one person to take the photos and videos Friday afternoon and during the Sunday picnic.

A/V Helper –– Ever wonder what all those buttons and levers on the soundboard do? We’ll train you to run sound for our elementary music classes in the Worship Center.

VBS Leadership/Planning Team.

Clean-Up after VBS –– all volunteers are to stay after daily class to clean-up and to prepare for the next day.
